The foundation stone of this building was laid in 1899. The stone conceals a sealed box with the founding documents, building drawings and written communication related to the building. The church has borne the name of Francis of Assissi since 1918. Until then it was called the Jubilee Church of Emperor Franz Josef I. The bells in the tower were confiscated during World War II. In 1993 the church received two new bells. The Church of St. Francis of Assissi has become a protected object of cultural heritage and a landmark of the town.
