Hiking trip through the mountain landscape through Mariánskohorské boudy to Protržená dam

Jizera Mountains
If you like mountain hiking, head from Abrechtice in the Jizera Mountains towards Mariánskohorské boudy to the Protržená dam. The road is about six kilometers long and along the way you can also try to find Schiller memorial stone.
Mariánskohorské boudy is still a popular destination for many tourists. It is a pastoral enclave of the Krkonoše type on the Mariánskohorský ridge. It was founded in 1705 and until the last century it was called Fritzovy boudy. Today, there are four mountain cottages and a newly built office of the Administration of the Protected Landscape Area of the Jizera Mountains. From Abrechtice in the Jizera Mountains, follow them along the green tourist sign. The road is 5.9 km long beautiful mountain scenery. Along the way you will also miss Schiller's memorial stone and the small village of Mariánská hora. Finding Schiller's memorial stone along the way can then be a great game for children, as it is not located directly on the road (road), but the Memorial is about 15 meters from the road, which is followed by a green hiking trail. From Mariánskohorské buds you can still follow the yellow tourist sign to the Protržená dam. It's not far. It is only one kilometer away from the cottages and it is a very interesting cultural monument. Ruptured dam The dam was once built on the river Bílá Desná. On September 18, 1916, the dam ruptured, which had catastrophic consequences. The flood wave not only caused enormous material damage, but also claimed 65 lives. These are unique remnants of a ruptured dam, whose inappropriate construction technology after the disaster served for safer calculations of other dam structures built after 1916.
